Indonesian Musicians Diskoria, Laleimanino. and Eva Celia Pay Tribute to Indonesian Legend With “C.H.R.I.S.Y.E”
On 15 January 2021, Laleilmanino in collaboration with Diskoria and Eva Celia released a song titled “C.H.R.I.S.Y.E”, the lyrics tell the story of one of Indonesia’s legendary musicians, Chrisye’s song titles. Uniquely, the song contains almost all of Chrisye’s most loved song titles, the chorus itself was written through the artist’s song titles and each of the sentences started with the letter corresponding to the song title. The song was also recently covered by BTS ex producer, Adora.
Indonesian trio Laleilmanino and DJ Duo Diskoria released “C.H.R.I.S.Y.E” on Jan. 31, 2021, featuring actress and singer Eva Celia. The dance tune pays tribute to one of Indonesia’s music legends, Chrisye.

This collaboration honors Chrisye with 24 of his most-loved songs in the lyrics and the first letter of each sentence in the chorus spelling out “Chrisye.”

The music video featured all of the collaborators of this track, and performance group Peqho Teater’s founder Adjie NA as the main character in the video, who relieves his past glories of partying and dancing to Chrisye’s songs.

Diskoria consists of Merdi Leonardo, Simandjutak, and Fadli Aat, along with the producer trio Laleilmanino, which includes Lale and Ilman of the band Maliq D’essentials and Nino from the group RAN. “C.H.R.I.S.Y.E” was completed within 24 hours as part of the music challenge created by music platform Studio Pop.

Chrisye might not be a global name, but he was the inspiration to many Indonesian musicians that come after him.

He was a progressive pop singer and songwriter, declared as the third greatest Indonesian musician of all time by Rolling Stone Indonesia in 2011.

Chrisye passed away in March 2007 due to lung cancer.

What makes “C.H.R.I.S.Y.E” unique is the production process, which took place during the COVID-19 pandemic. While Diskoria and Laleilmanino produced the single in the studio, Eva Celia recorded her vocals at home. It is her first time embracing disco pop.

Diskoria and Laleimanino have collaborated on previous projects, like “Balada Insan Muda” and “Serenata Jiwa Lara,” released in 2019 and 2020 respectively. “C.H.R.I.S.Y.E” however might be their most impressive one yet.
